The Les Invalides of Paris deserves a visit when you are in town!

In Paris, you will find more famous attractions and monuments than any other city in the world. And amongst the many, there is the Les Invalides which may not be the most famous, but it has a very famous story and is visited by millions of Paris visitors.

The Les Invalides represents what the then French leader, King Louis XIV (who was popularly the called the Sun King of France) stood for. Because he waged numerous battles during his life time, he decided to construct a sort of arena where old and disabled soldiers during the war could relax or socialize. The Les Invalides was constructed in 1671 and the complex was equipped with a very big hospital that could accommodate about 4000 soldiers in 1676.

Stories tell that King Louis XIV had a profound sympathy for humanity. The memory continues on in the mind of Parisians as they continue flying the flag in memory of the beloved warlord who was considered to be a man with compassion.

After you enter the premises of the Les Invalides, you can see several buildings such as the Musee de l'armee, Musee de l'ordre de la Liberation and so on. It is known for its distinct collections of prehistoric military armor and weaponry. And after two years of toiling and laboring, the church was giving a golden dome which lies atop the Museum; all of this for the memory the pre-revolution era.
The Les Invalides has always had the attention of various military organizations from day one of its construction, reflected in the manner that defeated enemy flags are hung all over. It is also a bit of a shrine to followers of Napoleon who often visited this spot to pay homage to the most respected warlord known to France.

As you know, the Les Invalides is just one of the many Paris attractions among many, such as the Arc de Triomphe that can be found when visiting the most popular city in the world. Napoleon Bonaparte is buried there which alone is a great reason to go!
